Motorollers App Terms and Conditions
Motorollers App Terms of Use | Motorollers App Privacy Policy
Introduction
The Motorollers community exists so that owners, enthusiasts and prospective buyers of Motorola devices can talk about Motorola devices, software, services and announcements, and so that we can listen. Product feedback, troubleshooting, software discussion, photography, customisation and general technology conversation are all welcome.
These Terms and Conditions ("Conditions") set out the rules for taking part in the Motorollers community on the Motorollers mobile application ("Platform"), which is owned by Motorola Mobility India Private Limited (hereinafter referred to as "Motorola", "we", "us" or "our"). They cover the content you post, how you engage with other members, how the community is moderated, and how contests and campaigns are run.
These Conditions apply in addition to our Terms of Use, which govern your access to and use of the Platform, and our Privacy Policy. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meaning given to them in the Terms of Use. In case of any conflict on a matter relating to community participation, content, moderation or contests, these Conditions shall prevail.
By posting, commenting, reacting, uploading, joining a group, entering a contest or otherwise taking part in the community, you agree to be bound by these Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not take part in the community.
Membership
- Every member gets a single Account, so that no one can amplify their own voice artificially. If we find that a person operates more than one Account, we may suspend or remove all Accounts involved. This applies in particular to Accounts created to evade a suspension or ban, to inflate votes, reactions, poll results or contest entries, or to impersonate Motorola staff, moderators, other members or public figures.
- Employees, agency partners and contractors of Motorola or Lenovo who post on the Platform in a personal capacity should identify themselves as such when discussing Motorola products.
Community Conduct
We ask for one thing above all: engage with other members as you would want to be engaged with.
Disagree Well
Honest criticism of Motorola, our products and our decisions is welcome. We ask that criticism be specific, made in good faith, and directed at ideas, decisions and products rather than at people. Posts whose only purpose is to insult a member, a moderator or the brand, without any substantive point, may be removed. Abusive language, slurs, threats, targeted harassment, pile-ons and sharing of personal information will be actioned without prior warning.
Content That Is Not Permitted
You shall not host, display, upload, post, share, link to or transmit any content that:
- is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, deceptive or misleading;
- is obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit or otherwise unsuitable for a general audience;
- is hateful or discriminatory towards any person or group, including on the basis of religion, caste, race, ethnicity, place of birth, language, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age;
- threatens, incites or glorifies violence, self-harm or terrorism;
- harms, exploits or sexualises children in any way;
- harasses, bullies, stalks or intimidates another person;
- discloses another person's private information, such as phone number, home address, identity documents, IMEI, order details or private conversations, without their consent;
- impersonates any person or organisation, or falsely claims an affiliation with Motorola or Lenovo;
- contains viruses, malware or any code designed to damage, disable or gain unauthorised access to any device, system or account;
- you do not have the right to share, including information covered by an employment obligation, a non-disclosure agreement or any duty of confidence;
- infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, publicity right or other proprietary right of any person;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States, or public order; or
- is patently false or misleading information, or is otherwise prohibited under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
Spam, Self-Promotion and Commercial Activity
The community is not an advertising channel, a marketplace or a fundraising platform. You shall not:
- post the same or substantially similar content repeatedly across posts, groups or comments;
- post unsolicited advertising, referral or affiliate links, chain messages, or pyramid or investment schemes;
- use posts, comments or your Profile to sell goods or services, drive traffic to your own channels, or recruit members into outside groups such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, YouTube channels or blogs;
- run giveaways or member-led events without prior written permission from the Motorollers team.
Sharing your own content because it is genuinely relevant to an ongoing discussion is fine. Sharing it only to drive traffic is not.
Unreleased Software, Leaks and Speculation
- You shall not post, mirror or link to unreleased or unauthorised software builds, including ROMs, OTA packages, factory images, internal documents, roadmaps or pre-release marketing material, where you are not authorised to distribute them. Such content will be treated as a leak and removed, and the Account responsible may be permanently banned.
- Motorola does not confirm, deny or comment on leaks, rumours or speculation about unannounced products, features or release dates.
- Discussion of officially released software and publicly announced products is welcome. Discussion of rooting, bootloader unlocking and custom ROMs is permitted where clearly labelled, provided no unauthorised files are shared. Such modifications may void your warranty and are undertaken entirely at your own risk.
Keep It Useful
- Stay on topic. Contributions should be relevant to the post or group in which they appear.
- Search before you post. Near-duplicate posts may be merged or removed.
- Write clear titles. A descriptive title gets you a faster answer.
- You may post in English or Hindi. Moderation may be slower for other languages.
Your Content
You are responsible for the posts, articles, poll responses, comments, reactions, photos, videos and any other material you upload, post or share on the Platform ("Content"). You retain ownership of your Content and confirm that you have the rights necessary to post it. Where you rely on someone else's work, credit the source.
By posting Content, you grant Motorola a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate, display and distribute such Content for the purpose of operating, improving and promoting the Platform and the Motorollers community. This licence ends when you delete the Content or your Account, except for copies already shared by other members or retained as required by law.
We will not use your Content, name or photo in paid advertising or marketing outside the Platform without your separate, explicit consent.
If you post personal information of another person, you confirm that you have obtained that person's consent to do so.
Views expressed by members are their own and do not represent the views of Motorola. We do not verify, endorse or warrant the accuracy of any member statement, product claim, benchmark, workaround or repair instruction.
Feedback, feature requests and product suggestions you post may be used by Motorola without restriction, obligation or compensation to you. Please do not post ideas you consider confidential.
Please do not post information about yourself that you would not want made public, and respect the privacy of other members, moderators and Motorola staff. Do not collect, scrape or store personal data about other members.
Moderation
The community is looked after by the Motorollers team and appointed group moderators. Their job is to help members, keep discussions productive and apply these Conditions. Moderators may edit, hide, move, merge, lock or remove content, and may restrict, suspend or ban Accounts, where these Conditions or the Terms of Use are breached.
We have no obligation to monitor all content on the Platform, but we may, at our sole discretion, refuse to post, edit, hide or remove any content that we consider to be in breach of these Conditions or applicable law, and may disclose information where necessary to meet our legal obligations. Some checks are automated; for example, posts containing certain keywords may be held for review before they appear. Decisions to suspend or ban an Account are taken by a person.
What Happens When a Rule Is Broken
Enforcement is proportionate to the breach and to any previous breaches:
- Level 1: Off-topic, duplicate or minor spam. Content removed, merged or edited; informal note.
- Level 2: Repeated minor breaches or light self-promotion. Formal warning; content removed.
- Level 3: Sustained spam, incivility or advertising. Temporary suspension of seven (7) to thirty (30) days.
- Level 4: Harassment, hate speech, adult content or leaks. Suspension of at least thirty (30) days, or permanent ban.
- Level 5: Illegal content, content harming children, malware, ban evasion or multiple Accounts. Permanent ban of all linked Accounts, and reporting to authorities where required by law.
Breach of these Conditions may also disqualify you from current or future contests and campaigns and lead to the forfeiture of any prize. We may act without prior warning where content is illegal, presents a risk to members or is clearly abusive. Where we remove content or restrict your Account, we will normally inform you of the rule applied.
Reporting and Appeals
- Use the Report option on any post, comment or Profile to bring content to a moderator's attention. Reports are confidential.
- If you disagree with a moderation decision, you may appeal by writing to support@motorollers.in within fourteen (14) days of the decision.
- If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your appeal, you may escalate the matter to the Grievance Officer, whose details are set out in the Terms of Use.
Contests, Events and Campaigns
- From time to time, Motorola may run contests, challenges, events and campaigns on the Platform ("Contests"). Each Contest will have its own rules, published in the Platform with the Contest. Those rules apply in addition to these Conditions and will prevail for that Contest in case of conflict.
- Unless the Contest rules say otherwise, Contests are open only to members who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and resident in India. Employees of Motorola, Lenovo and The Marcom Avenue, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to win.
- Each member may enter a Contest only through one Account. Entries made through multiple Accounts, automation, or any fraudulent or manipulative means will be disqualified.
- Entries must be your own original work and must comply with these Conditions. By entering, you confirm that you hold all rights in your entry and that it does not infringe the rights of any person.
- Winners will be selected in the manner stated in the Contest rules, and Motorola's decision on winners shall be final. Winners will be contacted through the Platform or their registered mobile number, and must respond within the period stated in the Contest rules, failing which an alternate winner may be chosen.
- Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Motorola may substitute a prize with one of equal or greater value if the original prize becomes unavailable.
- Prizes may be subject to tax deduction at source under applicable income tax law. Winners may be required to provide their PAN and other details required by law before the prize is delivered.
- Winners' display names and winning entries may be announced on the Platform. Any use beyond the Platform will be subject to the winner's separate consent.
- Motorola may modify, suspend or cancel any Contest at any time if it cannot be run as planned for reasons beyond our reasonable control, or where we suspect fraud or manipulation.
Changes to These Conditions
We may update these Conditions from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the Platform and reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Your continued participation after the effective date will be treated as your acceptance of the updated Conditions. If you do not agree, please stop taking part in the community and delete your Account.
